People With Great Bios

Part of Great Bios

These folks volunteered to have their names listed here so you could use their bios as examples, or have been found by the administrator (and they're listed with their permission). Notice how they're organised, relevant to the person they belong to, and use good grammar.

<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg>[Acceber] It's elegant, and fairly simple; most of her own biography is actually in wiki pages linked from her house. She used the pseudo-HTML to create a pleasant description.
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg>[Adaman]  Has a short, concise description, fragmented by banners - dividers, each of them explained by a short paragraph. And he has very good art displayed in the image slots.
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg>[Delladreing] Ah, Dela... Where should I start? Of course she uses dividers and graphics, of course her house looks good, but besides that, her house is fun, interesting and intelligent. Pity it never changes.
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg>[grey wanderer] She makes splendid use of the Elftown Graphics.
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg>[Ham] Well organised and interesting, good use of the graphics, easy to read.
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg> [Jaraq] His house contains two paragraphs speaking of his life and personality, few rules, and some graphics to make all this pleasant for the eye. An example of how to make a short description look good and personal.
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg> [Jitter] Nicely structured and decorated, easy to read, lots of wikis to check. And, bonus, the visitors can also check how her previous description looked like (very good, I tell you).
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg>[Joakim] Another Elftowner featured on the MainStreet, and for good reasons. He surely knows that “aesthetics” is more than a 10 letters word beginning with “a”, and his house reflects this. And he’s cute too.
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg>[Kiddalee] She doesn't talk about herself much here, but her bio is full of relevant lists: rules, wikis, updates, and other web participation.
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg>[Kelaria] Has a loveable house, full of colours and images, a joy for the eye. Bravo, Nancy!
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg>[Linderel] Very creative; has poetic descriptions of herself and some illustrations to make the house feel real, plus links in their respective places.
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg> [NOOOPENicely spaced description, sometimes ironical, but always pleasant, lots of wikis (that you should check) and badges. M has also been featured on the MainStreet – any wonder why?
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg>[Mirime] Instead of crowding her description with picture after picture, she has built a wiki-page with her artwork on it.
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg>[Synsae] Containing a good bunch of stuff, from funny rules to "What do we learn from horror movies", this RPGer-soldier-hockey lover's house is a mirror of his real room. Sports, army, games, movies - the house of a 24 years old man, and yet standing out.
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg> [Saray] The loveable lover of [Trennas] has a house that can make you laugh your ass off (check the “you might want to reconsider” banner). She obviously likes dominating, but you can’t disobey her (because she is loveable, and too fun). Lots of wikis for her visitors. Go check.
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg>[shadowfire09] Bulleted lists make the reading snappy and fast paced, and the Elftown Graphics are well used.
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg>[windowframe] Another artist’s house, and a proof that horizontal liners are as good as any graphics. Elegant in its simplicity, friendly, I enjoyed reading it although it’s not a short description.
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg> [Silver Wind] A house divided in a very interesting way: the mailbox, the door, the hall, the game room, the atelier, the living room and the library. Well chosen graphics and a good use of the pseudo-HTML .
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg>[Sunny Silverunicorn] The house of an artist. Unique and surprising though short, with links to all her art. Great art, if you ask me.
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg>[Stratakus] Organised and easy to follow.
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg>[The Coffee-Prophet] Besides an interesting description, he put up banners for wikis like Safe zone, Take Elftown back or Keep Elftown Shallow Free, which is always appreciated. His house is not crowded with unnecessary things.
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg>[Trennas] And here we are, on the domain of the adorable pirate/ vampire/ werewolf/ cat Trennas. He is fun (too fun), he is an artist, he is a writer, he is unpredictable, he will catch you and make you one of his fans. A great Elftowner with a great house.
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/80746_1099418015.jpg> [Wunjo*] If her description was a real house, I’d imagine it in the colonial style: large, simple, bright, only containing the strictly necessary furniture, and though elegant. There are also lots of links to wikis for you people to click on.

2007-09-16 [Chrysilla]: Okay, my bad (the "M for the crew" wiki is still in your house ;) )

2007-09-16 [NOOOPE]: Myes.... myes it is...

2007-09-17 [Saray]: Bwahaha, hilarious :P
But yes, I do like dominating *dr. evil finger action*

2007-09-17 [Linderel]: *aesthetics !
Well, it's possible to spell it 'esthetics' but I think 'aesthetics' is prettier.

2007-09-17 [Chrysilla]: it is prettier, but the dictionnary said it is "esthetics". Checked before writing because I thought it was with "a" like you :)

2007-09-17 [Linderel]: I don't think, I know. ;)
http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/esthetics

Edit: According to my Oxford English Minidictionary, 'esthetics' is a spelling used in the US.

2007-09-17 [Chrysilla]: It's weird that mine proposes a wrong spelling but oh well. Oxford is Oxford. Thanks for letting me know :)

2007-09-17 [Linderel]: It's possible that your dictionary uses American spelling. Or maybe even mixed spelling. *shrug* You're welcome. ;3 I'm a huge nitpicker, and believe that once you start with a certain way of spelling, you should stick to it.

2007-09-17 [Chrysilla]: I'm trying to use the British spelling, but as I'm neither British, or American, I cannot be sure of anything. English isn't even my second language. So I need all the help I can get :)

2007-09-17 [Linderel]: Hey, English is my third language too! xD
I just seem to have a knack for it. Truth be told, I still occasionally need to change my spelling when I find differences. I think I have most of them down by now, but... it's an eternal learning process. :3

2007-09-17 [Chrysilla]: Oh, then I must congratulate you for the excellent English :)
I'm improving my spelling by reading in English, but untill a short time ago I didn't even know there were differences between British and American spelling. As you say, it's a neverending learning process.

2007-09-17 [Linderel]: Thank you. :3
Ah, reading is a good way to improve. Good luck with it. :)
A couple of examples, British vs. American: 'colour' vs. 'color', 'defence' vs. 'defense'.
And then there are cases such as this: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/advice

2007-09-17 [Chrysilla]: Yeah I knew the "ou" vs "o" cases, thanks :)

2007-10-02 [Chrysilla]: *sigh* It's too hard to find people with great bios nowadays... I see alot of crap while searching for those special ones... I would really appreciate a hand.

2007-10-03 [Hedda]: Shouldn't this page be exported?

2007-10-03 [Chrysilla]: Oh, I didn't even notice it's not. But on the other hand, I don't see the "export" button anywhere... hmmmm...

2007-10-03 [Linderel]: That's probably because you're not the owner. I'll fix both issues.

2007-10-04 [Chrysilla]: thanks

2007-10-04 [Wunjo*]: Whee. :] I'm actually on here.
Didn't see it coming, since someone said; Woah, you're house is so typical emo. XD

2007-10-04 [Adaman]: Excellent. I see many good bios here (Dela & Sunny, hurrah!) Good choices all around I say.

2007-10-05 [Chrysilla]: Actually I found your house looking through Dela's relationships <img:stuff/dand-gif.gif>
